INTERVIEW
Q. What is the school's educational policy, philosophy and style?
Nagasaki Prefectural Matsuura High School was established in 1962 at the request of the citizens. The pride of being the school that represents the region, the tradition in which the students construct the school and the challenging spirit, are still inherited among the students.
Furthermore, most of our students have a gentle temperament and are full of compassion. Matsuura High School has both tradition and newness, strength and kindness.
Matsuura High School comprises of two departments: regular and commerce, aiming to a school rooted in the community. It is also a school that acknowledges the career goal of each student.
We want to nurture the talent of each one, so they later contribute to the development of their regions.
Q. Why did you decide to change the school uniform?
Due to the continued circumstance of receiving fewer applications over the last years, Matsuura High School decided to replace the production of their uniforms, changing them for the first time in 24 years.
The school thought that the students should have a uniform that they would want to wear on the outside but that also represented them on the inside. Therefore, we organized a Student Executive Committee by public invitation in which students could decide on the new uniforms.
The Student Executive Committee spent over half a year planning and designing the uniforms. That's how they created an attractive dress code focused on the student's taste and needs. In the end, the students had the last word on this matter.
COMMENT from DESIGNER
Comment from the designer
The blazer is green and blue, representing the traditional colors of Matsuura City. The new uniform accentuates the button with the design of the school’s new symbol and the seam of the gray fabrics. The skirt has an original checkered pattern in "Matsuura blue." The slacks were designed with a drop-in color tone, resulting in a soothing and unisex style.
