Q.What is the school's educational policy, philosophy and style?
This institute is a Catholic school based on the idea of monasticism. The high school and middle school were founded in 1961 and 1990 respectively.
The mission is based on the Catholic educational philosophy to nurture students that strongly values all people's lives, and who can actively contribute to public welfare and peace with honesty and devotion.
Throughout a Catholic religious education and daily prayer, students acquire a deep understanding of diversity and especially cherish the vulnerable ones. Also, students are encouraged to achieve their independence through different activities, such as interactive lessons, outside school training reports, simulated elections, and executive committee activities that manage school events.
Shin-Ai is a school where one can experience the full development of each's personality within a calm learning environment under individual guidance.
Q.Why did you decide to change the school uniform?
In 2020, Tokyo will host the Olympic Games. 2020 is a year in which many changes will take place in Japan, including the introduction of the education reform. It is expected to be a new era in numerous ways.
The same year, Kurume Shin-Ai will celebrate the 60th anniversary of its foundation. Looking towards this remarkable year, we are going to improve the academic program through our "Open to Love Project." The concept of this project is that of "opening up the future, opening up oneself, opening up the school," to ensure that students "cultivate their identity, accept diversity and acquire collaborative skills" through love. We will evaluate the education in every aspect, improve it, and move on to practice. We will implement a coeducational plan for junior high and high school from 2019.
The renewal of the uniform is also part of this project as a symbol of the new stage of Shin-Ai.
Kurume Shin-Ai is going to shape people who can respond to the demands of the new era while maintaining a firm formation.
